A female indicted with pursuing Kate McCann apparently recorded her a phone message which asked: "what if I am Madeleine?"

The defendant, 24, who a jury heard has consistently claimed she was the vanished Madeleine McCann, and her co-defendant are on trial charged with harassing Kate and Gerry McCann between June 2022 and February 2025.

On Monday, Leicester Crown Court was told communication data and data retrieved from phones documented Ms Wandelt consistently demanding Madeleine's mother for a biological test over that period.

Madeleine's disappearance in 2007 - at the age of three during a family holiday in Portugal - is among the most publicized missing child cases and remains open.

'I Am Not Seeking Money'

One phone message, shared in court, documented Ms Wandelt declaring: "I realize I'm overweight and unattractive like Madeleine used to be, but I know what I know."

While a separate message of Ms Wandelt's monologues with Mrs McCann's recording said: "Suppose there is a small chance that I am she? What then? Is that not significant for you?"

"I do not need money, I possess a life here in Poland, I just want to understand," she added.

The tribunal was told that through electronic messages, text messages and calls, Ms Wandelt asked for a genetic test, sent childhood photos to her phone in a effort to demonstrate a resemblance to Mrs McCann's disappeared daughter, and stated to have "recollections" from a youth with the McCanns.

The investigator, an investigator with law enforcement who gathered the evidence, advised the court there "showed no any responses" from Mrs McCann.

Ms Wandelt additionally contacted close associates of the McCanns, according to the communication logs.

On October 9th, 2024, Mr McCann picked up a communication from Ms Wandelt to his wife's phone, declaring she had "incorrect contact information."

On that occasion Ms Wandelt recorded a voicemail on Mrs McCann's recording saying "I will persist and I will prove my point."

The court was informed Mrs Spragg developed a relationship via internet with Ms Wandelt before assisting her on a appearance to the McCanns' residence in Leicestershire in December 2024.

Call logs revealed Mrs Spragg had contacted through WhatsApp to Mrs McCann to express the press had characterized Ms Wandelt as "mentally unstable" but that she deserved to be considered genuine in the time preceding the appearance to Rothley, that area, in that winter.
